Constructing the baseboards

April 14, 2007

Having already planned the layout and produced the trackplan it was time to actually start building something.

The loft ladder up to the model railway

To start with a simple open framework of 2x1" is fixed in place.
Installing the loft boards to create the floor of the railway room
At the end furthest from the loft hatch, the framework to join the two sides is taking shape. This will form the site of ‘Dalesmouth’ station. The raised portion is to take the upper level.
Loft hatch position will be inside the model railway
The end nearest the loft hatch is the first part to be surfaced, and serves as a temporary work bench. Eventually, this is where ‘Crossdale’ station will be.
